About fraud and liability. A dialogue platform was held at BNTU

О мошенничестве и ответственности. В БНТУ состоялась диалоговая площадка

Today, on April 15, the Belarusian National Technical University hosted a dialogue platform with students, the topic of which was the prevention of offenses among young people.

The event was attended by Vitaly Adamovich, Deputy Head of the Center for Ideological Work and Youth Affairs, Head of the Department for Ideological Work and Crime Prevention at BNTU, as well as Vasily Molchan, Deputy Head of the Department for Law Enforcement and Prevention of the Minsk City Executive Committee Police Department.

During the meeting, Vasily Vasilyevich not only announced statistical data, but analyzed real examples of offenses that occurred at the end of last year and the beginning of this year. The speaker paid special attention to the evolution of telephone fraud, which has now completely moved into the digital environment. As an example, recent cases were cited when intruders tricked citizens into transferring large amounts of money under the fictitious pretext of "declaring" savings.

Schemes in which fraudsters cynically manipulate minors were also dismantled. Situations range from demands to take valuables out of the house under threat of the alleged arrest of parents to deception with postal codes. In the latter case, attackers can use the access they have gained to stage the abduction of a child in order to extort money from his family.

A separate section discussed the topic of involving students in criminal activities under the guise of a light side job. Offers to work as a courier on the Internet often conceal complicity in fraud (transfer of cash) or distribution of narcotic drugs.

– In case of receiving threats from the organizers of shadow networks, the so-called "sportics", students should immediately contact the police. This provides a real opportunity to avoid criminal liability at an early stage, – the law enforcement officer emphasized.

On the eve of the upcoming summer season, Vasily Molchan also reminded students about criminal and administrative responsibility for drinking alcoholic beverages in public places. The topic of misappropriation of other people's found things was also raised, which is also a violation of the law. In addition, the rules for the safe use of personal mobility and carsharing were explained to the students.

Concluding the dialogue, the representative of the Minsk City Executive Committee Department of Internal Affairs urged young people to be vigilant, not to be manipulated by scammers on the web and always think about the consequences of their decisions.
