BNTU RECTOR SERGEI KHARITONCHIK TOOK PART IN THE 1ST BELARUSIAN-CUBAN MEETING OF RECTORS OF HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

Discussion of issues of cooperation with universities of the Republic of Cuba continued at the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR) within the framework of the First Belarusian-Cuban meeting of rectors of higher education institutions. The event was also attended by the rector of the Belarusian National Technical University Sergei Kharitonchik.

The main topics of the meeting were the following:

• establishing and developing contacts, searching for prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of education and science;
• directions for the development of international cooperation between universities of Belarus and Cuba;
• development of science and technology parks;
• training of highly qualified personnel;
• projects for opening improvement centers with possible regional coverage in priority sectors for the economy.

As mentioned in the previous article, the result of the visit of the delegation of the Republic of Cuba to the leading technical university was the signing of agreements between the Belarusian National Technical University and the University of Guantanamo Bay and  Moa University named after Antonio Nez Jimenez. Meanwhile, other Cuban universities have also expressed interest in the following cooperation:

• Central University "Marta Abreu" in Las Villas - in the field of equipment modernization;
• University of Information Sciences of Havana - in the field of software development;
• University of Camagüey – in the field of energy and metalworking.
