Mechanical engineering technology is a branch of science that studies the laws that operate in the process of manufacturing machines, combined with high quality at the lowest cost. This specialty trains engineers in the field of material processing technology and machine assembly. Within the framework of the specialty, recruitment is carried out for full-time and part-time forms of education. The normative term for training a specialist in full-time education is 5 years and is estimated at no less than 300 credit units (a credit unit is 17 hours). The normative term for training a specialist in correspondence forms of education is increased accordingly by 1 year. A typical training plan for specialists in this specialty includes the following special disciplines: cutting theory, machine tools, cutting tools, hydraulic and pneumatic drives and hydraulic and pneumatic automation, design and production of blanks, mechanical engineering technology, economics of mechanical engineering, theory of automatic control of technological systems, technological equipment, organization of production and management in mechanical engineering, etc. During the training period, students receive in-depth training in mechanical engineering technology, automation of technological processes, automated design of technological processes for processing and assembly (CAD), automation of the design of processing programs on CNC machines. Graduates of the specialty will be able to solve the following professional tasks:
- development and development of new and modernization of existing technological processes for machining parts and assembling machines that ensure the required quality of machines at their minimum cost and maximum productivity of safe labor;
- design and manufacture of advanced technological equipment for mechanical assembly work;
- organization and management of mechanical assembly production;
- analysis of production efficiency, development of measures to improve it;
- training and advanced training of personnel of mechanical assembly production;
- teaching pupils and students of secondary and higher educational institutions in the field of engineering technology and other technical disciplines;
- implementation of scientific research in order to increase the efficiency of mechanical assembly production in mechanical engineering.
Graduates of this specialty are trained for production and technological, design and research activities. After graduating from the university, graduates of the specialty receive the qualification of an engineer and are prepared for successful work at enterprises of various forms of ownership, in design and research organizations in the positions of technologists, site managers, workshops. Students who have shown a penchant for scientific research, after graduating from BNTU, continue their studies in the magistracy and postgraduate studies.
