Honorary titles

On December 20, 1995, in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Belarusian State Polytechnic Academy (hereinafter referred to as BSPA), at a meeting of the Academy Council, upon the recommendation of the rector and corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus, M.I. Demchuk, a decision was made to establish Honorary Titles of the BSPA: "Honorary Professor of the BSPA", "Honorary Doctor of the BSPA", and "Honorary Graduate of the BSPA". Regulations on Honorary Titles were approved, which were to be awarded to citizens of the Republic of Belarus who do not work at BSPA, as well as citizens of foreign countries for their significant personal contribution to the development of science, education, and industry, as well as for their consistent and comprehensive ties with BSPA. According to the regulations, Honorary Titles were to be awarded at the end of the year by categories, with the presentation of a certificate, a breast badge, and a monetary reward equivalent to 40 base units.

At the meeting of the Council of BNTU on October 25, 2002, in connection with the renaming of BSPA to the Belarusian National Technical University (hereinafter referred to as BNTU), updated regulations on Honorary Titles of BNTU were approved.

Based on the decision of the BNTU Council dated November 28, 2019 (Protocol No. 9), the updated Regulation on the Procedure for Awarding Honorary Titles of the Belarusian National Technical University was approved by the order of BNTU dated November 28, 2019, No. 67-P.

Over the past 28 years, the Council of BSPA-BNTU has awarded 59 Honorary Titles across three categories:

- Honorary Professor of BSPA-BNTU: 38 individuals

- Honorary Doctor of BSPA-BNTU: 13 individuals9

- Honorary Graduate of BSPA-BNTU: 19 individuals

Among them are representatives from Belarus (30), the CIS countries (12), and foreign states (17).
