This Policy on the Use of Cookies (hereinafter referred to as the Policy) has been developed in accordance with the requirements of the Law of the Republic of Belarus No. 99-Z of May 7, 2021, “On the Protection of Personal Data.” It forms part of the measures taken to protect the personal data of users (personal data subjects) of the website https://bntu.by (hereinafter referred to as the Website), operated by the Belarusian National Technical University (65 Nezavisimosti Ave., Minsk, 220013, Republic of Belarus) (hereinafter referred to as the Operator).
Cookies are small pieces of data that are transferred to and stored on a user's device (computer, smartphone, tablet, or smartwatch) when the user visits the Website. Depending on how long they are stored, the Operator uses session cookies and persistent cookies. Session cookies are stored only for the duration of a browser session. Persistent cookies are stored for the period specified in the cookie settings or until they are deleted by the user.
Depending on who sets or generates them, cookies are divided into first-party cookies, which are set or generated by the Operator, and third-party cookies, which are generated by third parties and used to analyze how users interact with the Website.
Users may accept or reject all cookies used on the Website, except for necessary cookies that are part of the Website's content management system. These cookies are required for the proper operation of certain areas of the Website's content management system, help distribute the load across servers, and ensure the security and protection of the Website. This category includes both session and persistent cookies. Without these cookies, the content management system may not function properly or may not function at all.
By using third-party cookies provided by the third parties specified in Clause 2.4 of this Policy, the Operator carries out cross-border transfers of data that is not associated with the identification of a specific user.
Information contained in cookies is transferred across borders to countries where an adequate level of protection of the rights of personal data subjects is ensured.
As part of the operation of the Google Analytics web analytics service, the Operator may transfer aggregated data (information about users combined into a common dataset based on their behavioral characteristics) that is not associated with the identification of a specific user to servers operated by Google, Inc. located in countries where an adequate level of personal data protection is not ensured.
In this regard, the Operator informs users of the risks associated with the absence of an adequate level of personal data protection in such foreign countries, including:
lack or fragmentation of personal data legislation;
lack or limitation of the rights of personal data subjects and of the Operator's obligation to respond to requests from data subjects;
lack of an authorized personal data protection authority;
lack or limitation of liability for violations of the rights of personal data subjects;
the risk of broad access to personal data by law enforcement authorities in various countries;
the risk of unlawful access to and unlawful use of personal data.
The Operator can ensure the full and proper functioning of the Website, including its security, only through the use of technical (necessary) cookies. Therefore, this type of cookie cannot be disabled through the Website and is used regardless of whether the user provides consent.
If such cookies are disabled through the browser settings, the Operator cannot guarantee the proper functioning of the Website.
When it comes to analytical cookies, the Operator asks users, upon their first visit to the Website, to consent to their use or reject their use by clicking “Accept” or “Reject” in the pop-up information banner.
By clicking “Accept,” the user consents to the use of analytical cookies. By clicking “Reject,” the user declines their use.
Users may also select specific types of cookies by clicking the “Settings” link in the pop-up information banner.
