On 4th of May 2018 5th year students of the group 10302213 of specialty 1-27 01 01 "Economics and Organization of Mechanical Engineering Production” of the Mechanical Engineering faculty of the Belarusian National Technical University took part in the round table at the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics on the topic "Social informatics and prospects for BIG DATA technologies in Education", which was held within the framework of the IV International Scientific and Technical Conference "BigData and Advanced Analytics 2018".
The term BIG DATA combines various methods of processing and analyzing large amounts of data, interest in which is growing in Belarus every year. Such technologies are now actively used in business, medicine, web analytics, education and other spheres. They are used by large companies of our country in their practice.

The BIG DATA-2018 conference was held from the 3rd of May to the 4th of May in Minsk and brought together more than 300 experts from the fields of science, business and the academic community who presented 88 reports. Scientists from 16 countries exchanged their experience here, including France, China, Kazakhstan, Holland, Germany, Great Britain and others. The Belarusian side was represented by the universities of Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, Belarusian State University, Belarusian National Technical University and Yanka Kupala State Univetsitt of Grodno, as well as the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the management of IT-companies-partners of the conference (EPAM Systems, 1C-Bitrix in Belarus, etc.). At the plenary sessions the speakers discussed with the students and lecturers the latest discoveries, achievements and tools for working with large data technologies and problems of artificial intelligence.

The target audience of the conference was:
- specialists, wishing to get knowledge about the latest achievements in the field of BIG DATA and Advanced Analytics;
- software development companies that are interested in the capabilities of BIG DATA and Advanced Analytics and the advertising of their solutions;
- business companies and entrepreneurs who want to learn how to benefit from BIG DATA and Advanced Analytics;
- lecturers who are interested in enriching the courses of the disciplines they read with topics related to BIG DATA and Advanced Analytics;
- scientists with knowledge on statistics, probability theory, artificial intelligence and optimization, interested in how their professional activities can be expanded using the achievements in the field of BIG DATA and Advanced Analytics;

Themes of the round table "Social informatics and perspectives of BIG DATA-technologies in education" were:
-social informatics and problems of modern education;
- BIG DATA-revolution in education: technology, perspectives and risks;
- online social networks and BIG DATA-technologies in education;
- media security of users of modern educational technologies;
-Internet-dependence, as a problem of informatization of education;
-problems, perspectives and risks of virtualization of education.

The purpose of the event was the creation of a discussion platform on actual problems of information protection in an intellectual society and joint development of measures to improve the moral standards of students.
