On the 27th of March 2018, there was a lecture with a researcher, lecturer, and consultant in marketing and business administration, Dr. Vera Butkouskaya, International PhD in Entrepreneurship and management, Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Spain. The lecture was attended by the students of the speciality 1-27 01 01 “Economics and Production Management (majors in)” and the staff of the department of “Economics and Organization of Mechanical Engineering Production”, Mechanical Engineering Faculty, Belarusian National Technical University. The scientific interests of the lecturer include Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC), Strategic management, Customer Behaviour, and Cross-Cultural Marketing.

The open lecture was devoted to the actual issues of the international marketing strategies in the conditions of uncertainty complicated by the fast growth of innovations and the high level of competition in the markets. In an interesting and fascinating form, the material was taught on the example of international brands and a practical case.

During the lecture, students and teachers had the opportunity to ask questions, express their opinions and assessments, and to discuss the applicability of the proposed strategies to domestic enterprises. The participants of the open lecture was able to think independently of the interesting strategic and tactical questions related with the companies' promotion to the new markets; to evaluate interesting techniques and methods of attracting new customers, gaining their trust and forming loyalty; and to offer their vision of problems and adapting world practices for Belarusian enterprises.

The fourth-year students (Vadim Chmil, Vsevolod Miruk, Roman Kukharenok, Vitaly Volodko, Alina Radzivilo), the third year students (Pavel Krivol, Anastasia Saiko, Polina Asmolovskaya, Eugenia Sushi, Margarita Tyuhai) and the second year students (Leshko Vladislav, Alexei Lavrienya) took the most active part in the discussion of the case.

During the lesson, students had a good opportunity to assess their level of English, because the explanations to materials Dr. Vera Butkouskaya did in English. Both the students and the staff of the department had no difficulties to understand materials given in a foreign language. Students who study other foreign languages were also not just presenting at the event. They were actively involved in the discussion as from English into Russian Vera Butkouskaya switched without hesitation. The secret of the good knowledge of terminology in both languages is simple and doubly pleasant, as Vera Butkouskaya graduated from the department of "Economics and Organization of Mechanical Engineering Production". At the department, she got bachelor diploma as engineer-economist and successfully defended her Master's dissertation (MScinEconomyandMarketingandBAinEngineeringandEconomyfromtheBelarusianNationalTechnicalUniversity (BNTU), Belarus). The education from BNTU was a good base for the enrolment into the doctoral program in Spain, where Vera defended her Doctoral dissertation "Antecedents and consequences of integrated marketing communications (IMC) perspectives in Spain and Belarus".

Summarizing the results of the lesson, Dr. Vera Butkouskaya noted the high level of the students´ theoretical preparation, their activeness during the discussion, openness and high culture of behaviour. She wished those present successes not only in the academic but also in the research work. Dr. Vera Butkouskaya expressed her gratitude to all teachers of the department, and specifically to her scientific supervisors, Sergei Vladimirovich Gluboky and Olga Anatolyevna Lavrenova. Additionally, she mentioned the head of the department of "Economics and Organization of Mechanical Engineering Production" Tatsiana Alexandrovna Sakhnovich for the scientific foundation that was laid during the studies at the Mechanical Engineering Faculty of the Belarusian National Technical University.
