The team of the branch of the BNTU "MSABT" "Makaronniki" took part in XI annual competition"Macaroni Builder" which took place from 11 to 13 April 2018 at Saint-Petersburg state University of architecture and construction.
150 packs of pasta, 40 kg of plasticine, about 50 teams from different countries and 4 hours of time. What comes out of it and why is this even necessary? In such an unusual way, students-architects honed their professional skills, proving that the main thing is the idea, and the materials, in turn, can be any.
The competition was held in two stages. On the first day the participants had to construct the highest tower, and on the second day - the bridge with the longest span. And not only to build, the design had to meet functional, economic, aesthetic requirements, and most importantly, to stand all night without crashing. Only in the morning of the next day the Commission chose the most durable and beautiful building.
A special atmosphere reigned in the competition. The students had to experience the whole spectrum of human emotions: from indescribable joy to unspeakable sadness. It is worth noting that despite the equally strong desire to win, the contestants were ready to help, if necessary, other teams - somewhere accurate observation, somewhere necessary advice.
The guys from some of the teams were already familiar with each other, competed before. There appeared new participants – both teams from Belarus: Belarusian national technical University (the "Hand of God") and MSABT (command "Makaronniki"). Also children who practically had no idea of construction mechanics and a number of other disciplines familiar to students of technical specialties participated. Pupils, graduates of Secondary School No. 109 ("109 makaronin") and Secondary School No. 87 ("Secondary School № 87") were not afraid to enter fight, for what they were noted in the special nomination "for will to victory".
Both the city and the University welcomed the guests. St. Petersburg in these three days pleased with the spring warm weather. St. Petersburg state University of architecture and civil engineering, in turn, provided rooms in the hostel, complex breakfasts and Lunches. Fortunately, in the busy schedule of participants of competition nevertheless there was time for acquaintance with the city and its sights. Who knows, maybe one of St. Petersburg's bridges became the concept of the work of one of the groups.
And for our team "Makaronniki" this competition has become an invaluable experience working in the team. All five participants are absolutely different. Silanti is captain of the team, he is active and ambitious, he knows what he wants and how to achieve it. Katya is the most positive person in the group-initiative and
responsible, will not give up and hang up. Denis is resourceful and active, at the same time he is always calm and reasonable. Ksyusha is creative and organized, it is her ingenuity has repeatedly helped us out, well, I'm with my endless desire for accuracy and attention to detail. Here's a "mix" turned out. We are all different and unique, worked together as a whole.
Summing up the results of the XI annual international competition "Macaroni Builder" we see the following results in the nomination "the tallest building":
