An operating power reactor of the American assembly is located in Pitesti. The exceptional nature of this construction is that its first contour is cooled by lead, not water. The lecturers, as well as the students, have access to the reactor. The students explore its operational process, gain necessary skills for their future profession and collect information for coursework and theses. The lecturers in turn conduct scientific research, have access to various documents, concerning the operational process of the reactor, which helps improve their professional knowledge.
During the meeting, the parties agreed on signing a memorandum, whereby BNTU students will be provided with an internship in Romania within Erasmus+ programme. Furthermore, the talks concerned the signing of an agreement between the two universities, the publication of scientific works and the participation of BNTU lecturers and students in the annual Automobile Conference in Romania.

Besides, the University of Pitesti coordinates projects. Annually, the university invites highly qualified professors from 38 countries, and BNTU administration was suggested to get the BNTU included in the list of those countries.
“We have good experience in the management of the projects of this kind. We have a lot in common – either great achievements or problems, which must be resolved ”, – says Rector Dumitru Chirlesan.
Particular attention was paid to capacity-building activities for BNTU lecturers with the financial support of the International Atomic Energy Agency, which has its headquarters in Vienna, Austria. Dumitru Chirlesan and Georgeta Chirlesan offered to assist BNTU administration on this issue.
