- As we know you came from Japan. Please, can you say in which university you are working, what the sphere of your specialization is and what is the aim of your visit to Belarus?
-First of all I want to express my gratitude for invitation to Belarusian National Technical University. My name is Tomokazu Nakayama, and I’m a lecturer in Jiseen Women’s University in Tokyo and professor of English in Center of learning language and international programs.
Professor developed methodology of studying English by students in Japan. This methodology is enough simple for understanding in an outside perspective, but contains plenty of unique decisions, which can be used in form of sentence in Japanese for future translating them into English. Professor was in Belarus 4 days. While being in our country professor gave some lectures for students of BNTU and said some words about “printed” methodology.

- How do you think, is it difficult to enter your university?
-It is a very good question. I would rather say that our university is at the middle level of difficulty for those who want to enter it. You know, our university has a very rich history. Our university is more than 120 years old.
- Can you tell, please, what faculties do you have in your university?
- There are 4 of them in our university: faculty of Liberal Arts, faculty of science about human’s life, faculty of human and social science.
- How long is studying in your university and if there are day, extramural or distance studies?
- 90% of all students attend day studies. Main term of education is 4 years. Also we have 2-year Magistracy. Some faculties have programs for preparing candidates of sciences (Ph.D.), which lasts 3 years.
-Can you tell, if all students of your university are studying free of charge?
- Our university is private, so all students should pay for education.
- How much does cost one year of education in your university?
- Something about 12.000$.
- Is cost of education the same at all faculties or it is changing year after year?
- Cost of study is almost the same every year. And it doesn’t change because of course of studying.
- Do you see the difference in organizational process of education in Belarus and in Japan.
-Unfortunately, I don’t know a lot about the system of education in Belarus, but teaching is very different. But I was really impressed by the campus of BNTU with its traditional architecture and old enough concrete buildings, but with really modern interior. Each building is unique in different way. I want to say that it will be not so easy to find something like that in Japan. Maybe because every 20-30 years buildings are destroyed and new ones are built.
-It is your first time in Belarus. What is your impression about our country?
- Yes, really, it is my first visit to Belarus. I’m satisfied with it, because people are hospitable and friendly and food is very tasty. Streets look clean.
- Will you recommend your students education in Belarusian universities?
- Yes, of course. I took a lot of photos during my visit to Minsk. I will show them my Japanese students. I’m sure, that after looking my photos they will have a desire to study in Belarus.
- Finishing we want to say that we were very happy to meet you and we are looking forward to your students is our university, and also our students for education in Japan.
- Thanks a lot. I want to say one more time that I’m really thankful for this opportunity, that I had possibility to visit Belarusian National Technical University. I will recommend your university among my students and will be happy to see you in Tokyo. Also I think that people in Japan need to know more about such countries as Belarus and develop relationships between universities. Thank you!
