Since 11.06.2018 to 22.06.2018 a group of BNTU’s students, which is studying at the specialty 1-43 01 08 "Steam turbine installations of nuclear power plants", passed the internship at the "Kozloduy" NPP (Kozloduy, Bulgaria). The internship was organized on the found of the Training Center of the NPP "Kozloduy" and other structural units of the NPP.
In internship was participated fourth-year students Yaromina Lizaveta, Mialeshko Krystsina, Minkevich Hanna, Sakaliuk Uladzislau, Sheshka Anton, Yaryha Maryna, accompanied by the head of practice from BNTU Burov Andrei. The journey was organized jointly with the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR). BSUIR was represented by such students as Kazlouski Yauheni, Malashuk Mikalai, Nhuyen Fu Khoanh, Komar Andrei, with BSUIR’s teacher Rusakovich Uladzimir.
Immediately upon the arrival of students at the NPP, a meeting was held with the leadership of the NPP training center - the head of the training center Mr. Pironkov and his deputy Mr. Kamburov. Also during this meeting, the students were explained the regime requirements, issued passes to pass to the territory of the NPP. The movement through the territory of the station is allowed only in the presence of a specially appointed employee of the NPP, which was assignment too.
During the first two days of internship, the organizational part and introductory lectures were given: lectures on the management structure of nuclear power plants, regulatory documentation in the field of nuclear regulation, and fire safety.
Then the students began to study the NPP systems, both in the lecture format and in the format of technical visits to the facilities.
Two days were devoted to training on VVER-440 analytical simulators and VVER-1000 full-scale simulator, there were also technical visits to the external radiation monitoring department, to shore pumping station, at the turbine island of the 5 unit, and the electrical department. Classes were also organized at the open switchgear and in the chemical department of the II circuit of the nuclear power plant. The students got acquainted with the automatic control systems of the NPP "Kozloduy".
Lectures, practical classes and technical visits were held in English, Russian and Bulgarian (with an interpreter) languages.
As a rule, the first half of the working day was devoted to lecture and theoretical studies, and after lunch there were technical visits in accordance with the program of internship.
At the end of the internship, the students were issued certificates, as well as CD-ROMs with information about "Kozloduy" NPP and presentations that were used in the process of the training.
As a result:
- the students consolidated, expanded and systematized the knowledge obtained in the study of special disciplines, mastered their practical application in simulator exercises on the analytical simulator of the unit with the VVER-440 reactor and the full-scale simulator of the unit with the VVER-1000 reactor;
- studied the basic thermal schemes of the NPP, technical characteristics, peculiarities of operation of the main and auxiliary equipment of the NPP both with the VVER-440 reactor facility and with the VVER-1000 reactor;
- examined the requirements and approaches to the safety of nuclear power plants in the countries of the European Union, as well as the requirements for the operation of NPP of international organizations such as WANO (World Association of Nuclear Operators) and WENRA (Western European Nuclear Regulators Association);
- examined the activities and upgrades of nuclear power plants, implemented after the accident at the Japanese NPP "Fukushima."
