MakaBuilder is an international competition, the purpose of which is the students' practical application of their knowledge of construction mechanics, architecture and other construction disciplines, the identification of active students, their involvement in the work of the student council and the social life of Belarusian National Technical University. To participate in the competition were invited students from 1-6 courses of all faculties of BNTU and their branches. Teams were accepted only in an amount up to 5 people. Each team could present one competitive structure. The aim of the competition is to build the skyscraper, using only pasta and sculptural plasticine. Building time is 4 hours! The same materials were given to each team: 1.5 kg of pasta spaghetti and 1 kg of sculptural plasticine. At the same time, it was strictly forbidden to use any third-party materials that affect the strength of the structure.
It is pleasant to realize that the students of our faculty are strong not only in their studies. They are able to successfully apply their knowledge in practice during international competitions. There were 2 teams from the Power Plant Construction and Engineering Services Faculty:

The second team associates its name with a football goal performed by Argentine Diego Maradona at the 51st minute of the quarterfinal match of the 1986 World Cup against England.
"The jury consists of teachers from our college , as well as guests from the St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. The main prize for the winners is an invitation to the All-Russia competition "Macaroni Builder-2018", which will be held in the city on the Neva in April, "commented the deputy director for educational work Natalia Kostyukovich.
Yury Yemelyanov (11004315) from the team "Tower Crane" gave the mark of the construction of his team:
"Yes, at the competition it was possible to observe the buildings of an incredibly high number of storeys, some already from the first minutes erected a whole foundation, and some did not even try to do it. We adopted the concept of sustainability. When we completed the 4th floor, we understood that all the load goes to the 2nd, not to the foundation, as it should be. Then we decided to approach the construction creatively: we complemented the construction with mock-ups of people so that not a single jury passed by and did not refuse to take pictures of them. They felt like students from the architectural faculty, as if they were renting a model for viewing (laughs - author's comment). "
After 4 hours of construction and 1 hour of waiting for results, the jury ordered the following: the team "Tower Crane" was awarded a certificate of the contestant and gifts from sponsors. The "Hand of God" team became the absolute winner of MakaBuilder 4.0, having won a diploma of the 1st degree of the contest, which will allow them to represent our country in St. Petersburg on the basis of the St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering in early April.
Olga Oderetskaya from the team "Hand of God" (11004414) commented on the prospects for the upcoming trip to St. Petersburg:
"The design will be completely different, foundation will be very massive, we will complicate and strengthen it in every possible way. Even in plans to construct the bridge design, this was never built, and all because there will be bridges in St. Petersburg, this is still a problem for us. This is not the first victory in the contest, not the first place. Our towers always stood, and so it happened that even our ideas were stolen. I think we will be strong competitors. I hope that we will succeed, we are very interested in winning the international competition in St. Petersburg and are happy to represent our country, university and faculty! "
We wish the team "Hand of God" creative successes and adequately present ourselves and our faculty!
