The Belarusian National Technical University is not only the flagship of engineering education in the Republic of Belarus, but also one of the leading scientific institutions of the country. There are a lot of strong scientific directions at BNTU. They are metallurgy, composite and special materials development, surface engineering, biomedical and sports equipment, green energy, construction, architecture, mechanical engineering, etc. BNTU has close ties with the real economy. Approximately 40% of contract work performed by the scientific divisions of the Ministry of Education is fulfilled at BNTU, and about 70% of the university's funding is extrabudgetary.
BNTU is closely connected with academic science. The unification of the potentials of university scientists and academic institutions helps to solve complex problems.
The merits of the University and its individual scientists in scientific, technical and innovative activities are positively evaluated and recognized by the scientific community. In 2017 this was confirmed by the election of the vice-rector in scientific work of BNTU, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Alexander Mikhailovich Malyarevich as a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
The awarding ceremony was held in the Palace of Independence on February 2, 2018. Diplomas and certificates were presented by the President of the Republic of Belarus A.G. Lukashenko.
