In 1949, the Department of Economics of Industry and Organization of Enterprises was established. In 1950 it was renamed into the department "Sectoral Economics of Industry of the BSSR", in 1951 - "Economics of Industry and Organization of Enterprises". Since 1980, the department was called "Economics of industry, organization and planning of production." In 1984, in accordance with the order of the BPI No. 65 of 08/03/1984, it was renamed "Economics and Organization of Energy". The department is headed by Mantserova Tatyana Feliksovna, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor.
The total number of employees at the department is 18 people, of which the teaching staff is 15 people, including 12 people on a permanent basis.

The department has accredited specialty 1-27 01 01 "Economics and organization of production" (certificate No. 0000282, order of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus dated June 24, 2013 No. 549). The training of specialists has been carried out since 1994 and is carried out in accordance with the curricula, educational standards, programs of disciplines. Graduates of the department work in economic and technical departments and services of enterprises of the energy complex and energy facilities of industrial enterprises. On the basis of the department, specialists of the highest scientific qualification are trained (master's degree - in the specialty 1-27 80 01 "Economics and organization of production", postgraduate studies - in the specialty 08.00.05 "Economics and management of the national economy").
Teachers of the department conduct training sessions on all forms of education at various faculties of BNTU.

The international activity of the department is aimed at integration into the international scientific and educational sphere by expanding relations with higher educational institutions and research organizations. Thus, cooperation has been established with the Economic and Energy Institute (Moscow), which provides training in similar specialties of the Energy Faculty of BNTU.

In addition to the mandatory disciplines of state educational standards, the curricula for training specialists include a number of disciplines that take into account industry specifics: "Economics of the enterprise", "Fundamentals of energy saving", "Management in the energy sector", "Energy economics and production organization", "Economics of non-traditional and renewable energy sources ”, “State regulation in the field of energy efficiency”.
Every year, the teachers of the department publish a number of educational, educational and methodological and teaching aids, methodological developments that allow replenishing the methodological support of the department in accordance with the standards of education quality management.
