Course "International nuclear cooperation. Technical aspects "for students of BNTU

With the accession of the Republic of Belarus to the club of countries with nuclear power plants, international cooperation in the nuclear field has become of major importance for our country. Therefore, when preparing students for nuclear power in the Republic of Belarus, special attention should be paid to the technical aspects of international nuclear cooperation.

Course " International nuclear cooperation. Technical aspects "covers a number of topical issues of international cooperation in the field of nuclear technologies.

During the last three years, the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (Moscow, Russia) has been conducting lectures by leading experts of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for masters of engineering and physics specialties.

Lectures are in video conference mode from Vienna in Russian and English (depending on the expert), in an interactive mode with the ability to ask questions.

At the General Assembly of the Regional Network for Education and Training in Nuclear Technology STAR-NET (Vienna, Austria), an active member of which is BNTU, it was proposed to expand the audience of the course participants in the autumn semester of 2018, to video sessions interested universities, members of the STAR-NET network.

To organize online lectures, ZOOM software is used, which requires the installation of special software on computers in classrooms. The license for multipoint users is provided by the regional network of Star-NET.

September 13, 2018, the first lecture of this training course on the topic "International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA): goals, objectives, programs" was held by the IAEA expert, Professor of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, Executive Director of the STAR-NET regional network Andrei Kosilov.

In the first lecture, which took place on September 13, in 1705-1840, students, undergraduates and post-graduate students of universities BNTU, BSU, BSUIR (Minsk, Republic of Belarus), MEPhI (Moscow, Russia) and ONPU (Odessa, Ukraine) took part.

From BNTU the participation in the lecture, which was held in room 326 building 2, was taken by the students of the group 10608116 of the specialty "Steam Turbine Installations of Nuclear Power Plants", as well as the teachers of the Department "Thermal Power Plants", directly leading the training sessions for students of this specialty.

In the autumn semester of 2018/2019 academic year, the following lectures are planned.

The above lectures are planned in Russian, but in the future it is planned to involve English-language experts and specialists in this course.

We hope that with the beginning of the semester at the 4th and 5th courses the audience of BNTU students will significantly expand, and students, undergraduates and post-graduates of our university will be able to study the experience of international cooperation in the field of nuclear energy directly from the leading experts and experts of the IAEA, which undoubtedly will be useful to them in the further professional and scientific activity.
