History of the department "Building mechanics"
The first mention of the Department of Structural Mechanics dates back to 1933.
The heads of the department at different times were Professor A.A. Kravtsov, Associate Professor, Ph.D. A.F. Anishchenko, Associate Professor, Ph.D. L.I. Kite. In the formation and education of the department, a great merit belongs to the associate professor, Ph.D. S.N. Yagolkovsky, associate professor, Ph.D. E.P. Dovnar, professor, doctor of technical sciences S.V. Bosakov and currently working in the department, professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences. E. M. Sidorovich.
From 1980 to 2021, the department professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences. A.A. Borisevich.
History of the department "Geotechnics and ecology in construction"
Year of foundation of the department "Fundamentals, foundations and engineering geology" - 1953.
The organizer and the first head of the department was Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor M.F. Makarochkin (1891 - 1963), who had worked for a long time in one of the oldest universities in Russia - the Moscow Institute of Transport Engineers (MIIT). After three years of detention in the Vorkuta camps of the Gulag and the ensuing disgrace, he is in charge from Mogilev to the post of head. yesterday's rector of the BPI professor M. V. Doroshevich. The department was created on the basis of combining the laboratories of mineralogy and crystallography with geotechnics.
Professor M.F. Makarochkin in 1957-58. was organized, and Associate Professor Yu. A. Sobolevsky supervised the undergraduate practice of building the building of the Moscow Metro (Mir, VDNKh, Universitetskaya, Vernadsky) for students of the construction department of the BPI. Based on the results of these practices, graduation projects on the topic “Deep underground metro stations” were implemented and defended. Two periods before the start of the construction of the Minsk metro, M.F. Makarochkin said: "Believe me, Minsk will have its own metro." It should be noted that in the prewar years, Professor M.F. Makarochkin was the first dean of the only subway department in the world.
The basis of the activity of the department he created at the BPI was laid down by the patriarch of the Soviet foundation engineering, prof. V.K. Dmokhovsky traditions - a wide connection with production, assistance in construction, the solution of pressing practical issues. In the development of scientific problems, the tradition goes back to N. M. Gersevanov and D. E. Polchen, the founders of the Soviet school of soil mechanics.
By the middle of 1953, several Ph.D. on the basis of which the regularities of a linearly deformable soil medium were discovered.
After the death of prof. M. F. Makarochkina in 1963, until November 1964, the department reached Ph.D., Assoc. M.A. Sitnikov, and then until August 1965 Ph.D., Assoc. V.N. Sharay.
After training in doctoral studies and being elected to the competition since 1965, the importance until leaving for the fall in 1993, the department was headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, prof. Yu. A. Sobolevsky, who was replaced and infected with the virus until April 1994, Ph.D., Assoc. N. N. Baranov.
On April 5, 1994, the department "Foundations, foundations and engineering geology" was reorganized into the department "Geotechnics and ecology in construction" under the foundation of Ph.D., senior researcher. D. Yu. Sobolevsky (now Doctor of Technical Sciences), who worked in this position until September 4, 1995. From September 1995 to July 2014, the department was headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, prof. M. I. Nikitenko. From May 2014 to October 2016, these duties were assigned to Ph.D., Assoc. T. M. Ulasik. From November 2016 to December 2018, the department has Ph.D., Assoc. V. A. Sernov.
After the merger of the departments "Geotechnics and Ecology in Construction" and "Building Mechanics" in the period 2019-2022, the department "Geotechnics and Structural Mechanics" was penetrated by Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences. Borisevich A.A.
In October 2013, the BNTU hosted the International Scientific and Technical Conference "Geotechnics of Belarus: Science and Practice", dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Department of Foundations, Foundations and Engineering Geology (now geotechnics and ecology in construction) and the 90th anniversary of the birth of Professor Yuri Alexandrovich Sobolevsky. More than 100 highly qualified specialists in geotechnics took part in the conference. Among them were representatives of Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Estonia, Poland, Belarus.
