The department was founded in 2007, with the transfer of training of specialists in the specialty 1-41 01 01 "Technology of materials and components of electronic equipment" with the prospects of deepening the engineering and physical training of students in the field of nanotechnology, the development of new methods for diagnosing nanoobjects and nanostructured materials, and above all the needs of scientific and industrial institutions of the Republic of Belarus in electronics, composite materials science, production of micro- and nanoelectromechanical systems (MEMS and NEMS). Since 2009, the department has been additionally training specialists in the specialty 1-38 01 04 "Micro- and nanosystem technology".
The educational process is based on the experience of scientific research and results in the field of mechanics of materials and structures, nanotechnology, instrumentation, composite materials science, obtained by the leading specialists of the department.
The department has close contacts with many innovation-active enterprises and organizations of the republic. Among them are factories and design bureaus of OAO Integral, NPO Planar, OAO Minsk Research Institute of Radiomaterials, MNIPI, institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, leading companies, etc.
The Department of Micro- and Nanotechnology trains specialists (engineers, undergraduates, candidates and doctors of sciences) in the field of micro- and nanosystem products and technologies for their production. This is a new and dynamically developing area of science and technology, every year requiring an increasing number of engineering and scientific personnel. Microsystem technology, micromachines, microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) are being developed and produced in all technologically advanced countries of the world in ever-increasing volumes. The economy of Belarus especially needs specialists who are able to develop and organize the production of such products. Cars, tractors, combines, household appliances, etc. produced in Belarus contain many sensors, sensors, gyroscopes, micromotors, various devices and miniature converters, which require continuous improvement in accordance with the requirements of the global market. Therefore, the personnel produced by the department of MNT are in demand both at industrial enterprises and in industry and academic design bureaus and institutes of Belarus. The department of MNT is the only one in the country that trains such unique specialists, so their work in the real economy is adequately paid.
An academician, a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, doctors and candidates of sciences, professors and associate professors take part in the training of specialists at the MNT department. There are well-equipped educational and scientific laboratories, there are branches of the department at OAO Integral, OAO Minsk Research Institute of Radiomaterials, State Scientific Institution Institute of Heat and Mass Transfer. A.V. Lykov National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Special courses and disciplines of specialization are read by specialists working in the branches of the department. All term papers and theses are carried out on the subject of the proposed places of distribution. Organized and equipped with modern scientific and technical equipment Industry Laboratory (ONIL-MEMS) for the development of new technologies and promising samples of microtechnology for enterprises of the Ministry of Industry and the State Committee for Military Industry of the Republic of Belarus. students,
The process of training specialists is associated with the study of manufacturing technologies, methods for calculating, designing and diagnosing microelectromechanical and nanoelectromechanical systems, nanoobjects and nanostructured materials, metrological support for measurements at the nanolevel, determining the properties of materials and components at the nanoscale, the features of the operation of micro- and nanosystems in modern machines and devices .
The professional activity of the future graduate in the field of microsystems technology involves the study, development, creation and application of subminiature devices, sensors, actuators and micromachines based on the system integration of electronics, materials science, mechanics, optics, chemistry and biology. All these competencies are possessed by graduates of the Department of Micro- and Nanotechnology.
The prospects for the further development of the department are determined by the global trends in the miniaturization of technology and are directly related to the scientific and technical policy of the Republic of Belarus in the field of high technologies, with the development and implementation of international and national R&D programs in the field of nanotechnology, the creation of production facilities of the 5th and 6th technological modes, further stimulation of innovative activity of the industry and commercialization of new technologies, devices and equipment.
Students of the department annually in April take part in the International Scientific and Technical Conference of Young Scientists and Students "New Directions in the Development of Instrument Engineering" organized by the Faculty of Instrument Engineering, teachers - in the international conference "Instrument Engineering", which traditionally takes place in November. Up-to-date information on these events is available on the faculty website.
The material and technical base of the department consists of the laboratory "Technology of semiconductor devices and integrated circuits", the laboratory "Nanodiagnostics", the laboratory "Technology of materials of electronic equipment" and the "Laboratory for the study of chemical sensors".
The laboratory "Nanodiagnostics" is equipped with 6 atomic force microscopes NT-206 designed for nanocontrol of structures and surfaces, conducting laboratory work on the courses "Materials of micro- and nanosystem technology", "Technology of nanocontrol", "Components of micro- and nanosystem technology", performing coursework and diploma works on the development of new methods for the analysis of nanoobjects and surfaces. For all the listed disciplines there is methodological support for laboratory work. The laboratory can be used for research work of students.
The Langmuir-Blodgett LT-103 bath is designed for deposition of mono- and multi-molar films on the surface of solid samples and for the formation of uniform single- and multi-component films by horizontal deposition.
The laboratory is equipped with information stands, equipped with a multimedia projector and a laptop for presentations used in lecturing, defending term papers and theses.
The laboratory "Technology of Materials of Electronic Engineering" is equipped with electric furnaces and a drying cabinet designed for heat treatment of materials; metallographic microscopes designed to study the microstructure of metals and their alloys; Brinell hardness tester; photocalorimeters to study the properties of solutions; The laboratory can be used for research work of students.
Laboratory "Technology of semiconductor devices and integrated circuits" is designed to study the physical and chemical processes of formation and assembly of semiconductor devices. Laboratory work is carried out on complex robotic complexes, analogues of which are used in the existing production for the manufacture of serial semiconductor devices. The available equipment and measuring instruments make it possible to conduct laboratory classes in the disciplines "Technology of semiconductor devices and integrated circuits" and "Technology of assembly of integrated circuits".
"Laboratory for the study of chemical sensors" is intended for research, modeling and testing of chemical (gas) micro- and nanosensors, testing of chemical and biochemical sensors, certification of chemical sensors and systems based on them.
