Currently, the faculty has about 900 full-time students and about 500 part-time students. The training of specialists in the field of instrumentation is carried out by 7 departments, of which 5 specialize in 10 specialties.
The dynamic development of the instrument-making faculty is due to its powerful scientific and pedagogical potential. The faculty employs 110 teachers, including 18 doctors of sciences and professors, including 2 academicians and 2 corresponding members of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and 53 candidates of sciences, associate professors. The complex of scientific research is carried out on the basis of the Research Center for Optical Materials and Technologies, the Industry Laboratory of Innovative MEMS Technology Devices (ONIL-MEMS) and two research laboratories: Semiconductor Technology and Optoelectronic Instrumentation.
The faculty conducts training of scientific personnel of the highest qualification through doctoral studies, postgraduate studies and competition, there is a doctoral council for the defense of dissertations. In 2011-2025, 2 doctoral and 17 master's theses were defended, of which 12 were graduate students of the faculty.
Every year, the Faculty hosts the International Scientific and Technical Conference "Instrument Engineering" and the International Scientific and Technical Conference of Young Scientists and Students "New Directions in the Development of Instrument Engineering". On the basis of the faculty, the scientific and technical journal "Instruments and Methods of Measurement" is published, which since 2011, by the decision of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Belarus, has been included in the List of scientific publications for publishing the results of dissertation research in the scientific direction "Means and methods for measuring, monitoring, diagnosing and assessing the quality of objects and processes" (technical and physical and mathematical sciences).
Since 2000, the faculty has been among the leaders of the review competition among the structural divisions of BNTU.
