Specialties
Currently, the department trains engineers in the specialty 1-42 01 01 "METALLURGICAL PRODUCTION AND MATERIAL PROCESSING" (in the following areas):
Direction 1-42 01 01-01 - METALLURGY
Specialization 1-42 01 01-01 01 - FOUNDRY OF FERROUS AND NON-FERROUS METALS (full-time form)
Specialization 1-42 01 01-01 02 - ELECTROMETALLURGY OF FERROUS AND NON-FERROUS METALS (correspondence form)
Direction 1-42 01 01-02 - MATERIAL PROCESSING
Specialization 1-42 01 01-02 02 - METALLURGICAL HEAT ENGINEERING AND FURNACES (correspondence form)
Direction 1-42 01 01-03 - METALLURGICAL PRODUCTION AND MATERIAL PROCESSING (INDUSTRIAL SAFETY) (full-time form)
Duration of training - 4 years, qualification - engineer.
Since 2016, full-time students have been enrolled in the specialty 1-42 01 01 METALLURGICAL PRODUCTION AND MATERIAL PROCESSING in the specialization 1-42 01 01-02 02 - Metallurgical heat engineering and furnaces, integrated with secondary specialized education (abbreviated full-time education).
Duration of training - 3 years, qualification - engineer.
When training specialists within the framework of specialization 1-42 01 01-01 01 " Foundry production of ferrous and non-ferrous metals» students gain in-depth knowledge of the theory and technology of production of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and alloys, in the field of computer-aided design and computer simulation of foundry processes, master modern physical, chemical and mechanical research methods, master new technologies, including waste-free ones, allowing to obtain products with set of specified properties, strengthen materials and create new ones with unique properties for various industries, including mechanical engineering, automotive, instrumentation, aviation and space industries. Graduates are distributed to BELAZ, BMZ, MAZ, MTZ, MMZ, Mogilev Elevator Plant, TsVETMET (Zhodino), UniversalLit (Soligorsk), Lida Casting and Mechanical Plant, ALUMINTECHNO, private enterprises and firms.
When training specialists in the framework of the direction of the specialty 1-42 01 01-03 - " Metallurgical production and material processing (industrial safety)» students study a wide range of disciplines. They master both modern technologies and equipment of metallurgical and foundry production, master material and energy-saving technologies, modern research methods, and a block of special courses, including industrial safety, labor safety management, and legal support for enterprises. Such training provides an opportunity for employment at various enterprises of the national economy by industrial safety specialists, labor protection engineers: GOSPROMNADZOR, machine-building and metallurgical enterprises (MAZ, BMZ, BELAZ, Tsvetmet), housing and communal services, institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, enterprises of various forms of ownership, government authorities, etc.
When preparing specialists in an abbreviated form of education (on the basis of colleges) in the specialty 1-42 01 01 "Metallurgical production and material processing " after the end of the 1st course, students are planned to specialize depending on the needs of enterprises in the following specializations:
1-42 01 01-01 02 "Electrometallurgy of ferrous and non-ferrous metals";
1-42 01 01-01 03 "Metal science, technology and equipment for heat treatment of metals";
1-42 01 01-02 02 "Metallurgical heat engineering and furnaces".
In the process of studying, students actively participate in scientific research conducted by the department and its research laboratories on orders from enterprises. The results of these studies are reflected in course and diploma projects, discussed at national and international scientific and technical conferences and seminars, published in the press.
Industrial practices are carried out at the leading metallurgical, machine-building, instrument-making and other enterprises of the country (MTW, MAZ, BMZ, BelAZ, MMZ, ALUMINTECHNO, etc.), in engineering centers, industry research institutes. This allows graduates to work successfully both in the field of production and in design and research organizations.
Students who have shown a penchant for scientific research, after graduation from the university, continue their studies in the magistracy and postgraduate studies, work in the research laboratories of the departments as researchers.
The department "Metallurgy of ferrous and non-ferrous alloys" carries out postgraduate training of highly qualified scientific personnel through postgraduate studies (full-time and part-time forms of education), there is a specialized council for the defense of candidate and doctoral dissertations.
