The need for teachers in specialized industrial technologies and vocational training led the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education to reprofile several student groups from the Mechanical and Technological Faculty of the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute into pedagogical specialties between 1960 and 1963. This initiative was pioneered by A.M. Dmitrovich, Dean of the Mechanical and Technological Faculty, and O.V. Roman, Head of the Department of Metal Technologies.
In 1964, the first Faculty of Engineering and Pedagogy in the country was established at the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute. B.A. Belkevich served as dean until 1981, followed by I.V. Bashkevich from 1981 to 1986.
In 1986, due to faculty consolidation, the training of students in these specializations was transferred to the Mechanical Engineering and Construction Faculties. However, educational reforms necessitated a restructuring of the training system for engineering and pedagogical personnel. Consequently, on February 1, 1999, the Faculty of Engineering and Pedagogy was reestablished at the Belarusian State Polytechnic Academy, with S.A. Ivashchenko as its dean.
Since 2021, the faculty has been led by A.A. Drobysh.
