Organization of Student Research Activities
The organization of student research activities at the university is based on the Instruction on Organizing Student Research Work at Higher Education Institutions in the Republic of Belarus, approved by the Ministry of Education's Resolution No. 27 dated March 31, 2006.
Forms of Student Research Activities
Student research activities (SRA) are diverse and determined by both the faculty and individual departments, depending on the specialty, course, student body, and available resources.
Since the educational process includes elements of scientific creativity, SRA is generally categorized into two types:
1. SRA Within the Educational Process
Key forms of SRA within the educational process include:
2. SRA Outside of Class Time
Key forms of SRA conducted outside of class time include:
SRA at General Technical Departments
On general technical departments, SRA typically includes:
Students typically engage in research activities intensively starting from the third year, alongside specialized coursework. Faculty select course project topics for capable students that include theoretical and often experimental research elements. The results of these projects form the basis for scientific publications, invention applications, and conference presentations. By the fifth year, a motivated and creative student usually has several publications, has presented at national and international conferences, and receives recommendations for graduate studies.
SRA at Social Science Departments
On social science departments, primary forms of SRA include:
Student Research Bureaus:
In the university's research labs and centers, there are 18 student bureaus coordinating centralized research under the guidance of renowned scientists in priority areas of fundamental and applied science.
Key Indicators of Student Research Success
One key indicator of student research success at the university is participation in the Republican Student Research Work Competition, held annually with participation from all higher education institutions in Belarus.
