Presentation of the new textbook "The History of Orthodoxy in the Belarusian lands. From antiquity to 1914"
On February 3, 2026, teachers of the Department of History O.V. Lepesh and L.I. Moseychuk visited the Minsk Theological Academy, where a presentation of a new textbook "The History of Orthodoxy in the Belarusian lands. From antiquity to 1914." A team of outstanding specialists worked on the creation of the book: Head of the department, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Professor Valentina Anatolyevna Teplova; Chairman of the Synodal Historical Commission of the Belarusian Exarchate, Candidate of theology, Associate Professor Archpriest Alexander Romanchuk; Academy lecturer, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Priest Alexy Hoteev; Doctor of Philology, Professor Lyubov Viktorovna Levshun from the Institute of Language and Literature NAS of Belarus; as well as Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Alexander Bendin. This textbook is intended to provide a complete understanding of the history of the Belarusian Orthodox Church, revealing its unique features. For this purpose, the following tasks were set: a chronological scheme of the Church's development was developed, historical information was systematized based on an analysis of various sources and existing literature, and the specifics of the relationship between Church and state, church structure, parish and monastic life, spiritual education and liturgical art were analyzed. Special attention is paid to the history of Belarusian saints. The book is intended for university teachers and students, as well as for anyone interested in the religious history of Belarus.
FTUG students in the Belarusian State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation
(to the Day of national memory of the victims of the Great Patriotic War and the genocide of the Belarusian people)
June 22 is a special day for Belarus, this is the Day of National Remembrance of the victims of the Great Patriotic War and the genocide of the Belarusian people, the day of mourning and memory of those who, at the cost of their lives, fulfilled their duty to defend the Motherland, who died at the hands of the Nazis in the occupied territory in concentration camps, ghetto, as a result of punitive operations.
On this day, the Department of History organized an excursion to the Belarusian State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation for students of FTUG, which was brilliantly conducted by the head of the Department of Information and Use of Documents, Ph.D. Moseychuk L.I. The guide introduced the tourists to the history of the archive building (the oldest in Minsk!), located on Cyril and Methodius St., 4 in the former Bernardine monastery, whose year of construction dates back to the 17th century, its funds and the working conditions of the archivist for the preservation of photo documents, layouts, drawings, projects.
A significant part of the excursion was devoted to a review of the photographic documents of Minsk of the post-war period, illustrating visually the destruction caused to the city during the war years, as well as the dynamics of the restoration of the capital in the first difficult post-war decades. The guide emphasized that in parallel with the work of sappers, builders, road workers, architects such as M.I. Baklanov, G.V. Zaborsky, V.A. Korol, I.G. Langbard, N.N. Makletsova, L.D. Usova, G.V. Sysoev, many of whom worked with the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute.
The visitors got acquainted with the poster photo-exhibition "Rising from the Ashes", which allowed them to see the degree of destruction of Minsk at the end of the Great Patriotic War and evaluate the feat of the Belarusian people in restoring the capital. L.I. Moseychuk prepared rare photo materials reflecting the state of the main building of the BNTU in 1944, projects for the modernization of the campus in the 1960-1980s, which made it possible to compare how the architectural appearance of our university has changed up to the present.
In the department of information and use of documents, students got acquainted with the design and construction documentation of Minsk architects. Drawings, sketches, projects for the reconstruction of the city aroused keen interest among students.
