The creation of the department began with the commencement of training specialists in new fields of transport and transport activities in 1976. This included logistics and traffic management. In 1978, the Department of "Automobile Transport and Vehicle Repair" was established under the leadership of Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Yanchuk E.M. It focused on training in the specialties of "Operation of Automobile Transport" and "Traffic Organization."
In 1981, two departments were formed based on the Department of "Automobile Transport and Vehicle Repair": "Operation and Maintenance of Automobiles" headed by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Vanchukevich V.F., and "Organization and Safety of Road Traffic" led by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Yanchuk E.M. In 1984, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Filimonchik I.I. was elected as the head of the "Organization and Safety of Road Traffic" department.
Following reorganization and the merger of departments in February 1988, the Department of "Automobile Transport Organization and Traffic Management" was established.
In June 2017, the Department of "Automobile Transport Organization and Traffic Management" merged with the Department of "Assessment Activities in Automobile Transport and Industry" to form the Department of "Transport Systems and Technologies."
