The department carries out research work GB 21-257 "Development of the typology of residential and public buildings in the context of modern scientific and technological innovations with the determination of the possibilities of their influence on the system of design activities and improvement of the regulatory framework in the field of architecture and construction of the Republic of Belarus" (2021-2025 ). The current trends in the development of the architecture of Belarus in the context of globalization are determined with the development of proposals for the humanization of the living environment by means of architectural shaping and improving the quality of the content of domestic architectural education.
The theoretical foundations of architectural typology and architectural and construction systems of dwellings for various segments of the population are being developed, the reconstruction and modernization of the housing stock in order to ensure its harmonious development through the reproduction and restoration of housing resources, the use of new types of consumer housing models.
The directions of development of the typology of residential and public buildings in the modern socio-economic and technological conditions of Belarus are determined, taking into account the use of the latest information technologies in the practice of designing, which will improve the quality of the educational process in the preparation of architects, respond in a timely manner to the need to improve the regulatory documentation that defines architectural design, and in general to optimize the processes of practical activity of the architect.
Employees of the department participate in the organization of international and republican scientific conferences, make presentations at them. In line with the implementation of the ongoing research, a number of scientific and popular science articles on the topic have been published - annually 60–80 publications.
The results of research and development are used in the educational process.
Every year, a student scientific and technical conference of the university is held, at which students and undergraduates report the results of their scientific research.
There are two scientific student circles at the department: "Universal Design of the Architectural Environment", "Modern Trends in the Development of Architecture in Belarus".
Undergraduates and graduate students (including citizens of other countries - the Russian Federation, Iran, China, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Lebanon, etc.) study at the department.
