Ponomarenko Evgeniy Gennadievich was born on January 18, 1981 in Bobruisk, Mogilev region. In 1998 he graduated from secondary school No. 22 in Bobruisk, then in 2003 - the Belarusian National Technical University with a degree in Power Plants.
From 2003 to 2006 he was a postgraduate student at BNTU. At this time, he combined scientific and pedagogical activities at the Department of Power Plants. During his studies, he received a nominal scholarship named after Zh. Alferov.
Since 2006 - assistant of the department "Electric Power Plants", since 2009 - senior lecturer of the indicated department, since 2010 - associate professor.
In 2010 Ponomarenko E.G. defended his dissertation for the degree of candidate of technical sciences. The results of the dissertation were published in more than three dozen publications and have found their application in design and installation and commissioning energy organizations of the Republic of Belarus.
In 2012, by decision of the HAC E.G. Ponomarenko was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor in the specialty "Power Engineering".
2014–2017 - Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Energy.
2017–2018 - Scientific secretary of the branch of BNTU "Research Polytechnic Institute".
from 05.12.2018 to present - Dean of the Energy Faculty of BNTU.
Since 2006 Ponomarenko E.G. takes part in state research programs as an executor and supervisor of tasks.
He was the executor of a number of economic contracts with domestic and foreign organizations.
In 2013, the BNTU team led by E.G. Ponomarenko took third place among 16 universities from the CIS countries in the International Student Olympiad in Electric Power Industry at Ivanovo State Power Engineering University
In 2014, he was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from the Central Committee of the Belarusian Professional Union of Education and Science Workers;
In 2014 - the third prize of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the social support of gifted pupils and students;
In 2017 - Honorary Diploma of the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus;
In 2019 - a diploma of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus;

He is the author of more than seven dozen publications, including three educational and teaching aids. One textbook on the discipline "Electrotechnical materials" was published abroad. Actively participates and organizes scientific and technical conferences, including international ones.
As the dean of the faculty E.G. Ponomarenko is actively involved in attracting sponsorship, with the use of which classrooms were renovated, technical equipment was purchased for organizing a remote educational process, devices and instruments were purchased to equip laboratories. Recently, branches of 4 departments have been created, one of which is with a subsidiary of the global company Schneider Electric. Two new specialties of magistracy and one of the first stage of higher education have been opened. In 2021, at the expense of sponsorship of the international company Tavrida Electric, a laboratory for modeling electrical networks was created. In 2020, for the centenary of BNTU and the faculty, joint conferences were organized with RUE "BelNPP" and RUE "Minskenergo". Conferences and seminars are held annually with representatives of the Ministry of Energy. In 2021, a coordinating council was organized to organize interaction between the BNTU and the Ministry of Energy. Students of the faculty traditionally take high prizes in both sports and scientific competitions.
