Graduated from the S. M. Kirov Belarusian Institute of Technology in 1982. In 1982 he graduated from the S.M. Kirov Belarusian Institute of Technology with a degree in Technology of Inorganic Substances. From 1982 to 1993 he worked at the inorganic substances technology research laboratory as an engineer, junior researcher, researcher. In 1992 he had defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of engineering "Physico-chemical principles and technology of obtaining silicon phosphate from silica gel" in the speciality 05.17.01 - technology of inorganic substances. In 1994 he was chief specialist of the chemical engineering department of Belgorkhimprom. From 1994 to 1998 he was chief specialist of Belkom JV. From 1999 worked as a senior lecturer, associate professor, from April 2018 to February 2019 - Head of the Department of Chemistry at BNTU Mechanical Engineering Faculty, from April 2019. - Associate Professor at the Department of "Engineering Ecology" of Faculty of Mining and Environmental Sciences. In 2008, he graduated with honours from the Republican Institute of Higher Education with a degree in Management of Vocational Education Institutions retraining. In 2015, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor in Technology (Chemical Engineering). Since 2015 and up to now he has been the Chairman of the State Examination Commission for the defense of Master's theses of the students of Master's degree 1-48 80 01 "Technology of inorganic substances", the Chairman of the State Commission for the defense of diploma projects (works) of retrainees of BSTU major 1-48 01 73 "Chemical technology of inorganic substances". Currently he is the Chairman of the State Examination Commission for the reception of state examinations and protection of diploma projects (works) of students of specialty 1-48 01 01 "Chemical technology of inorganic substances, materials and articles". A.A. Mezhentsev repeatedly was the opponent in defence of dissertations for the degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences in the specialty "Technology of inorganic substances". He is the qualified specialist in the field of technology of inorganic substances.
The scientific area is development of methods of industrial materials with use of modified natural and anthropogenic raw materials RB. He reads lectures and conducts laboratory practice at the courses "Chemistry" at military-technical, construction, machine-building faculties, at the course "Colloid and physical chemistry" at construction, as well as at the course "Applied chemistry" at instrument-making faculties. He has developed lecture and laboratory classes on colloid and physical chemistry, applied chemistry and chemistry for military-technical faculty cadets. Scientific and methodical work of A.A. Mezhentsev is devoted to development and modernization of modular-rating system of control and stimulation of students' study during a semester.
He has approximately 100 scientific works in scientific journals and collections, more than 10 copyright certificates and patents.
He is co-author of educational and methodical textbooks: laboratory practical course in chemistry, tasks of laboratory control in chemistry, tasks and exercises in chemistry, program and control tasks in chemistry, as well as electronic learning package in chemistry for students of higher technical schools and for students of profile "Engineering and technology", electronic learning package on discipline "Colloid and physical chemistry" for students of speciality "Production of building products and structures".
He has a commendation from the rector of BNTU, he was awarded with letters of commendation of BNTU and diploma of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, as well as with letters of commendation of other departments.
