Happy Father’s Day!

С Днем отца!

Today, October 21, Father’s Day is celebrated in the Republic of Belarus — an event that fills the hearts of children of all ages with warm feelings. The holiday marks the end of the Week of Parental Love, which began on October 14, Mother’s Day.

History and traditions of the holiday

Father’s Day is a relatively young but already established holiday in our country. It was officially established by Decree No. 198 of the President of the Republic of Belarus dated June 9, 2022. This document introduced an amendment to Decree No. 157 of the President of the Republic of Belarus dated March 26, 1998, “On State Holidays, Public Holidays, and Remembrance Days in the Republic of Belarus.”

The choice of October 21 as the date is significant. In Belarus, it has been a bright tradition for many years to celebrate Mother’s Day on October 14, and the establishment of a new holiday made it possible to combine this period — from October 14 to October 21 — into Parental Love Week. The holding of these festive events helps to preserve and strengthen traditional family values and also increases the importance of the state’s family policy.

Among the main traditions of Father’s Day are holding themed events and family festivals, as well as honoring men who successfully combine professional achievements with the responsible role of head of the family. On this holiday, it is customary to thank fathers for their wisdom, protection, and the invisible support that accompanies each of us throughout our lives.

BNTU on this day

The Belarusian National Technical University actively participates in the festive events of the Parental Love Week. At the faculties and dormitories of BNTU, events are held, organized by the Public Organization “BRSM” and the primary trade union organizations of employees and students.

Students and staff of BNTU are joining the republican campaign “Let’s congratulate Dad together!” and are sending holiday cards with sincere words of gratitude to their parents. In addition, themed exhibitions and photo zones are being set up in the university buildings, where anyone who wishes can leave a warm wish for their father.

The key events of the day are educational and discussion meetings. At BNTU, dialogue platforms “Being a dad is cool!”, round tables, and curator‑led sessions are being held. On these platforms, students, together with experts, invited guests, and fathers with many children from among the university staff, discuss the continuity of generations and the importance of paternal upbringing.

Congratulates all fathers on this wonderful holiday! We wish you good health, energy, peace, and a cozy home. May your children delight you with their achievements, and may mutual understanding, harmony, and love always reign in your family!
