| The Department of "English Language No. 1" traces its origins back to the Department of English and French Languages at the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute, which provided instruction in "English," "French," and "Spanish." In October 1989 it was reorganized into the Department of English to provide English Language training at all faculties of the University. In April 2003 two different departments were created on the basis of the Department of English: "English Language No.1" and "English Language No.2". The Department of English Language No. 1 conducts training in the discipline "Foreign language (English)" as part of the undergraduate degree program at the following faculties: Automotive and Tractor Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanics and Technology, Power Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Military Engineering, Information Technology and Robotics, Sports Engineering, Mining and Engineering Ecology. The Department also offers training to both graduates and postgraduates as part of their MSc and PhD programs. Since 1988 the Department has been headed by Svetlana A. Khomenko, associate professor, PhD in Philology. |
