Specialties

The department trains civil engineers in the following specialties:

1-70 04 01 "Water management construction"

The training of civil engineers is carried out on a full-time budgetary form of education for 4 years. Students master both general technical disciplines and special ones: "Hydraulic structures", "Hydroelectric power plants", "Pumping stations", "Melioration", "Waterways and ports", etc. technological, production and undergraduate practice at construction, production facilities, as well as in design and research institutes.

1-70 07 01 "Construction of thermal and nuclear power plants"

The training of civil engineers is carried out on a full-time budgetary form of education for 5 years. Students master both general technical disciplines and special ones: "Buildings and structures of thermal power plants and nuclear power plants", "Constructions of thermal power plants and nuclear power plants", "Construction of thermal power plants and nuclear power plants", etc. During the training, students undergo familiarization practice at operated thermal power plants of the republic, technological, industrial and undergraduate practice at construction, production facilities, as well as in design and research institutes. For a number of years, the internship program included visits to the Smolensk NPP, and students have internships at the Belarusian and Leningrad NPPs under construction.

Students on internships at the operating Smolensk NPP and the Leningrad NPP-2 under construction:

Graduates of the department with the qualification "civil engineer" are widely in demand in construction and installation, operational, design and research organizations in energy, industrial, municipal and other industries.

The department trains engineers in the specialty  1-37 03 02 "Shipbuilding and technical operation of water transport"

Training of engineers is carried out on a full-time basis for 4 years. Students master both general technical disciplines and special ones: "Ship Theory", "Ship Design", "Shipbuilding Technologies", "Navigation", "Hydrology, Hydrometry and Dynamics of Channel Processes", etc. During the training, students annually travel to for 2-4 weeks at industry enterprises (RUESP Dneprobugvodput, Pinsk), JSC Pinsk Shipyard, Pinsk, river ports in the cities of Gomel, Brest, Grodno, Pinsk, Bobruisk, Vitebsk, Mozyr; JSC "Belsudoproekt" Gomel, etc.), where on floating cranes, motor ships, tugboats, in workshops and design bureaus they get acquainted with the specifics of their future work at shipbuilding and ship repair plants, in design bureaus for the creation and operation of water transport,

Students are trained in accordance with modern international requirements and standards, taking into account the peculiarities of the Republic of Belarus.

The department has the material base: the largest unique laboratory of hydraulic structures in the republic, hydraulic laboratories, a specialized cabinet for nuclear power construction with models of nuclear power plants, modern computer classes, interactive whiteboards with projectors. The laboratories of the department are adapted for modeling the operation of all types of dams, a shipping lock, for studying wave effects on structures, the operation of turbines and pumps. At the channel site, large-scale open-flow research is being carried out. The department traditionally pays great attention to scientific research. In different years, such well-known structures as a water slalom channel and a flood spillway on the river were modeled on the channel site. Birds that are successfully exploited to this day were "washed" spillway dams of the Grodno and Polotsk hydroelectric power stations, in a wide tray, the destruction of the dam in the undermined territory was modeled. Trays and installations in laboratories are used by students during training sessions, graduate students and undergraduates - for dissertation experiments, teachers - when performing both budgetary and contractual research work. The team of teachers of the department published a number of textbooks and manuals. All disciplines studied by students are provided with methodological manuals. and contract research projects. Scientific directions of the department:

  • theoretical and experimental research in the field of pulse processing of materials; development of technologies for the manufacture of bimetallic tools;
  • development of scientific foundations and technology for complex pulse-vibration reagent impact on filters and the near-filter zone of water wells;
  • development of methods and equipment for the intensification of the processes of dissolution and mixing of low- and high-molecular substances;
  • hydrological studies of the parameters of small streams;
  • development of low-pressure hydraulic units;
  • development of jet technologies for cleaning and protecting against corrosion of steel products based on the use of bentonite-containing working fluids
  • hydraulic studies of spillways;
  • numerical methods for assessing the stress-strain state of building structures of buildings and structures under the action of static and dynamic loads;
  • improving the performance of integrated power plants;
  • land reclamation methods with different relief;
  • studies of the reliability of hydroelectric facilities during floods;
  • improving the reliability and durability of water wells of water supply and vertical drainage systems;
  • wave phenomena in shipping locks.

Since January 2018, the department has registered and operates a scientific school in the field of development and creation of high-energy processes of high-speed metalworking and high-pressure hydrojet multifunctional technologies based on reversible helical and two-phase flows (supervisor prof., Doctor of Technical Sciences I.V. Kachanov) .

The students of the department are actively involved in the implementation of research and contractual work at the department "GESVTiG". They take an active part in patent and invention work, annually make presentations at the SNTK BNTU, take part in republican and international competitions. 25 students and undergraduates of the department were awarded prizes of the Presidential Fund of the Republic of Belarus, 6 people became laureates of international and republican SRRS competitions, were awarded diplomas: "Excellent student of SRRS", "Activist of SRRS".
