About the department

The Department of "English language" №2 – is a dynamically developing structural unit founded in 2003. Over the years of fruitful work, we have formed a strong and united team of 12 highly qualified specialists, 10 of whom are professors and teachers.

The department provides the educational process for the discipline "Foreign Language (English)" at the Faculty of Energy Construction (110), the Faculty of Construction (112), the Faculty of Architecture (111), the Faculty of Transport Communications (114), the Faculty of Engineering and Pedagogy (109), as well as for training undergraduates and postgraduates for the candidate minimum exam.

During the second half of the working day, the department's team is developing the scientific topic "Professionally Oriented Foreign Language in the Context of Forming Environmental and Communicative Competence." The scientific and practical results of this topic's development are presented in the department's textbooks, educational and methodological complexes, articles, abstracts, and materials from scientific and practical conferences, monographs, as well as in collections of abstracts and articles from conferences held at the department.

The key areas of our activity are:

• Development of students' scientific potential: We actively involve students in research work. Every year the department holds contests of scientific presentations in English and subject Olympiads, which allows students not only to improve their language skills, but also to present their first scientific achievements.
• Active scientific activity of the teaching staff: Our teachers are regular participants in prestigious scientific and scientific-practical conferences of national and international level. Regular publications in journals included in the list of the Higher Attestation Commission (VAK) confirm the high scientific authority of the department's employees.
• Creating a modern educational and methodological base: Over the past five years, the department has made significant progress in its methodological work. We have published four English language textbooks for special purposes, which have been approved by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, as well as two textbooks that have been approved by the Ministry of Education and Science. In addition, we have developed five electronic educational and methodological complexes (EEMCs), which allow us to use the latest technologies in the educational process.
  The Department of "English language" №2 – is a team of like-minded people who not only provide the highest level of language training, but also make a significant contribution to the development of teaching methods in the country.
