Research Work Areas:
The main activities of the department currently include researching the production-technical base and technologies for technical maintenance and repair of automotive vehicles, studying the technical condition of vehicle units and assemblies, developing effective methods for computer diagnostics of vehicle systems, developing technologies and methods to extend the service life of operational materials, and improving the environmental and economic performance of vehicles.
Faculty Research:
During the 2015-2016 period, the following research projects were conducted:
1. Improvement of the production-technical base for maintenance and repair of MAZ trucks and buses. The reporting period involved collecting and studying the levels of mechanization of technological processes in maintenance and repair zones of transportation organizations in Belarus that operate MAZ trucks and buses.
2. Improvement of organization and technology for diagnostics, technical maintenance, and repair at auto service enterprises (GB 16-2006). Stage 1 involved gathering statistical data on failures of trucks.
3. "Research on fractal parameters of nickel-chromium gas-thermal coatings, prediction of their physical-mechanical characteristics and operational properties" under contract with BRFRI No. T13K-033 dated 16.04.2013, state registration No. 20131461 (completed on 31.03).
4. "Research and development of technology for forming erosion-resistant layers on working surfaces of thermal power equipment using concentrated energy flows (laser radiation and electric spark treatment)". Dependency study of laser radiation parameters, electric spark treatment, composition of SPS powders on operational characteristics. Development of technological recommendations and instructions for processes to obtain wear-resistant layers for electrical equipment components using laser treatment and spark alloying with SPS powders.
5. Development of nanocrystalline and amorphous composite coatings based on carbides of refractory metals and diamond-like carbon for engineering and technical purposes and special materials for their manufacture. Conducting operational tests of Ti-Zr-Al-Si and nc-ZrC (ZrN) + diamond-like amorphous carbon coatings.
Student Research:
At the 72nd student conference of BNTU in the Department of "Technical Operation of Vehicles," 58 students participated, presenting 28 reports.
