The Department of "Engineering Graphics" Profile was established on July 8, 1974, and became part of the Auto-Tractor Faculty in 1975. At its inception, the department's faculty consisted of 33 members, including 5 associate professors. From 1975 to 2000, the department was chaired by Candidate of Technical Sciences and Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, L.S. Shabeko. From 2001 to 2014, the department was led by Candidate of Technical Sciences and Associate Professor P.U. Zeleny. From 2017 to 2019, it was headed by Candidate of Military Sciences and Associate Professor V.G. Shostak. Currently, the department is chaired by Candidate of Technical Sciences and Associate Professor T.U. Matsiushinets.
The faculty comprises 6 associate professors with PhDs, 15 senior lecturers, 2 lecturers, and 9 engineers.
The department provides graphic training for students across 83 specialties within 15 faculties of BNTU, both in full-time and part-time forms of education. These faculties include Auto-Tractor (ATF), Mechanical Engineering (MSF), Mechanical-Technology (MTF), Instrumentation (PSF), Power Engineering (EF), Mining and Ecology (FGDE), Information Technology and Robotics (FITR), Engineering Pedagogy (IPF), Military-Technical (VTF), Energy Construction (FES), Transport Communications (FTK), Management Technologies and Humanitarization (FTUG), Sports-Technical Faculty (STF), Faculty of International Cooperation (FMS), and the International Institute of Distance Education (MIDA).
The educational work of the department is conducted in accordance with the standard program approved by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus.
The department maintains continuous communication with the faculties, adjusts educational programs, and promptly informs the relevant dean's offices about students' current performance in the department's disciplines. This organizational and methodological work is ensured through the department's highly qualified and experienced representatives: Associate Professors P.U. Zeleny (ATF), D.U. Klokov (STF), V.A. Koval (EF), A.Yu. Lyashkevich (PSF); Senior Lecturers S.U. Bonad (FITR), T.V. Borovskaya (FTUG), A.P. Goncharonok (FES), N.M. Gritsko (IPF), S.V. Dzhezhora (MSF), N.F. Kulashchik (FTK), I.V. Tovstik (VTF), T.M. Tsyavlovskaya (MTF), T.A. Shaban (FGDE), and L.U. Khmelnitskaya (FMS, MIDA). Senior Lecturer N.M. Gritsko is responsible for the preparatory faculty for foreign students.
The Courses of "Engineering Graphics," "Engineering and Mining Graphics," and "Descriptive Geometry, Engineering, and Machine Graphics" for mechanical engineering specialties include training in four sections: descriptive geometry, projection drawing, machine building drawing, and computer graphics. The methodological work in the department is planned and implemented accordingly.
Under their leadership and with their direct involvement, the department staff develops and maintains a comprehensive set of methodological and didactic materials: visual aids and posters, methodological manuals, individual assignment handouts, test, control, and final assessment tasks to evaluate the current and final level of knowledge in the discipline. Overall, this ensures a high level of educational process for all sections of the discipline for students in both full-time and part-time forms of education.
