The working visit of the delegation of the Belarusian National Technical University to China continues. Today, September 15, as part of a visit to North-Eastern University (NEU), a meeting was held between BNTU Rector Sergei Kharitonchik and NEU Rector Feng Xiatin.

As a result of the negotiations, the minutes of the meeting of the Confucius Institute Council on Science and Technology were signed.
For reference: The Confucius Institute for Science and Technology is a joint project of BNTU and NEU, created in 2014. It is designed to promote scientific and technical cooperation by training engineering personnel who speak technical terminology in Chinese, thus providing linguistic support for joint technical projects and programs.
At the end of the meeting, rector Feng Xiating was presented with a printed version of the Russian-Chinese-English dictionary of technical terms, which was developed as part of the activities of the Confucius Institute for Science and Technology of BNTU together with teachers from North-Eastern University.
Sergei Vasilyevich also congratulated the rector and staff of NEU on the centenary anniversary, presented them with memorable souvenirs and invited Chinese colleagues to visit Belarus so that they could personally familiarize themselves not only with the activities of BNTU, but also with the achievements of Belarusian industry. In turn, Feng Xiating suggested going on a tour of the departments and laboratories of NEU. Such joint work will contribute to strengthening cooperation between the Belarusian National Technical University and the North-Eastern University, as well as the creation and functioning of a joint faculty.
Next, representatives of BNTU visited the Shenyang Institute of Technology (STI). During the visit, the Belarusian delegation got acquainted with the Chinese-Belarusian innovative training, research and production center for strengthening, restoration and corrosion protection of machine parts, visited the STI training laboratories, as well as a jointly developed workshop where students study the structure of cars in practical classes.
For reference: On October 25, 2022, the opening ceremony of the Chinese-Belarusian innovative training, research and production center for strengthening, restoration and corrosion protection of machine parts took place in STI. A significant contribution to its setting up was made by Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Valery Konstantinovich Sheleg. All new methods of strengthening, restoring and protecting machine parts from corrosion are concentrated in this center . It is important to note that there are no analogues to this center in China yet.
After getting acquainted with the material and technical base of the institute, negotiations took place between BNTU Rector Sergei Kharitonchik and ShTU Rector Li Kangju. The parties discussed the implementation of the existing project of the joint educational program “2+2” for training specialists in the field of mechanical engineering, and Li Kangju made a proposal to expand cooperation through the creation of new joint educational programs, summer camps on the basis of BNTU, and student exchange within the framework of academic mobility , organization of training in in-depth educational programs in the field of IT, robotics and hydraulics.Sergei Vasilievich, in turn, noted the successful cooperation between universities and supported the idea of expanding interaction. The parties are also interested in organizing a joint venture to create engineering products and sell them in Belarus and China.
A continuation of today’s busy program was the participation of BNTU representatives in the Global Forum of University Rectors in Shenyang with the aim of establishing mutually beneficial contacts with representatives of participating universities. During the Forum, Rector Sergei Kharitonchik will make a presentation on the topic “All-weather interaction in technical education of Belarus and China.” The forum is attended by university rectors of China, Japan, Russia, Turkey, New Zealand, France, Italy, the Republic of Korea, Australia and others.
