Andrey Safonov graduated from the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute in 1991, completed his Ph.D. at the Belarusian State Polytechnic Academy in 1994, and earned a Doctorate from the Belarusian National Technical University in 2002.

He has held various academic and professional positions, including engineer, trainee instructor, assistant professor, senior lecturer, associate professor, and head of the Department of Hydropneumatic Automation and Hydropneumatic Drives.

Dr. Safonov earned his Ph.D. in Engineering in 1997 and was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering in 2004. He was a recipient of the 1999–2000 Presidential Scholarship of the Republic of Belarus for outstanding young scientists. Additionally, he served as the academic secretary of the dissertation defense council.

Over his career, he has supervised one Ph.D. candidate and ten master’s students in technical sciences. He is the author of 120 publications, including three monographs and two textbooks approved by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus. Dr. Safonov also holds nine patents, one of which has been implemented in production.

He is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
