Cooperation with Chemnitz University of Technology - Germany
Professor Eduard Iosifovich Zenkevich, a professor at the Department of Technical Physics, received a grant for scientific research within the framework of the Technical University of Chemnitz's Program for Invited Scientists "Self-Assembled Inorganic/Organic Nanostructures: Surface Chemistry, Energy Relaxation Processes and Possible Applications" .
The following results were obtained during the grant execution:
- Based on experimental data and quantum chemical calculations (MM+ method), a 3D model of AIS/ZnS quantum dots (octahedral sphalerite nanocrystal with a diameter of d=3 nm with a hydrolyzed surface (SH)78(ZnOH)78, solubilized by 24 glutathione molecules GSН) was developed for the first time in the world, and the morphology and interface properties of nanoassemblies involving quantum dots and tetrapyrrole macrocycles were justified;
- It was experimentally and theoretically established that in nanoassemblies based on semiconductor quantum dots AIS/ZnS and porphyrin molecules, the non-radiative relaxation of exciton excitation is due to the competition of two processes: 1) dipole-dipole energy transfer quantum dot®porphyrin and 2) electron tunneling to the surface of the quantum dot under quantum confinement conditions.
The obtained results can be used in nanophotonics (photovoltaics, sensors) and nanobiomedicine (development of selective markers and singlet oxygen photosensitizers for photodynamic therapy of oncological diseases).
