From January 19 to 23, 2026, faculty from the English Language Department No. 1 of the FMME completed a professional development program "Social and Digital Technologies in Foreign Language Teaching" at the Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining of the Belarusian State University of Foreign Languages.
The choice of this program was not accidental. The rapid pace of development in modern higher education requires that faculty members promptly update their teaching tools and master modern educational technologies. The program focused on current issues in foreign language education and generated considerable interest among faculty. It focused on digital tools for teaching foreign languages and social interactive educational technologies. The classes explored the possibilities of gamification of the educational process, the use of social technologies to develop functional literacy, the educational potential of situational tasks, and the specifics of teacher assessment and evaluation. Special attention was paid to the methodological aspects of using educational technologies and the prevention of professional burnout in the context of the intensification of the educational process.
Participation in the program allowed the department's faculty to expand their professional competencies, update their knowledge of modern approaches to digitalization of education, and gain practical ideas for updating their teaching methods. The acquired knowledge will be used in everyday teaching and in the development of digital teaching materials for students.
